“1001 Nights Kitchen Taipei” is a rare find in Taiwan, offering Middle Eastern buffet dining. It’s not easy to find buffet in Taipei for under 1000 NTD. Although the variety may not be extensive, there are plenty of delicious options available at 599 NTD, including Iranian barbecue, Persian specialties, and exotic desserts not commonly found elsewhere. It’s a surprising gem of a restaurant in Taipei, and it’s not far from Songshan Train Station.

1001 Nights Kitchen Taipei is located near Exit 2 of Songshan MRT Station, just a 3-minute walk away. The restaurant is on the second floor, and it’s quite popular today. Remember to make a reservation online before you go.

The interior of the restaurant exudes an exotic atmosphere with details like tapestries and tablecloths, giving you a unique and special experience. There are more seats than expected, but it doesn’t feel overcrowded.

On weekdays and holidays, there’s a price difference of 100 NTD. The dining time is 105 minutes, but I feel like it’s quite sufficient. Perhaps it’s because I’m getting older; I find that I get quite full within an hour, and the rest of the time is spent leisurely enjoying snacks and drinks.

As it’s a Halal restaurant, pork is not served. Most dishes feature beef, chicken, or lamb as the main ingredients. Each type is available in both grilled and stewed options. Personally, I highly recommend the grilled minced beef and lamb, as they are flavorful and tender after being grilled over charcoal.

The grilled chicken wings and lamb pizza are also must-try dishes, but I wouldn’t recommend the fried fish and salmon, as they can be a bit dry.

The slightly mushy eggplant, enhanced with spices, is a unique addition to the menu. It’s my first time experiencing this type of dish, and it adds an interesting flavor to the meal.

Beverages and ice cream are available at the bar area, with servers providing on-site service. The saffron juice and salty yogurt are both quite unique and distinctive options.

In the salad section, there are options for both self-selection and pre-prepared salads. You can choose your favorites to enjoy. My mom particularly loves the chicken salad, and after trying it myself, I agree that it’s quite good.

In the dessert section, there are many rare options, such as saffron sweet porridge and unique Middle Eastern pastries. There are also delicious coconut balls and pudding, which are quite interesting. I recommend trying a little bit of each to experience the variety of flavors.

Salmon may not be the best option, but the braised beef, lamb shank, and grilled meats are highly recommended. For the grilled dishes, adding Tabasco sauce enhances the flavor, especially when paired with a tangy and spicy taste.

The vegetable rolls and grilled chicken are both delicious options, and there are also some grilled vegetables to provide a refreshing change of pace.

The desserts are particularly delicious, and you can also enjoy them with a beverage.

There are two types of ice cream to choose from: saffron and peanut, both of which are handmade by the restaurant. Personally, I highly recommend the peanut flavor for its rich peanut aroma and the delightful crunch of peanut pieces with every bite.

The service attitude and environment both deserve high praise. Most of the dishes are delicious, with only a few exceptions. Additionally, the value for money at 599 is really outstanding. If you’re open to trying exotic cuisine, then I highly recommend 1001 Nights Kitchen Taipei.
